Q&A BeautyYour bridal beauty woes sorted PRE-WEDDING PICK-ME-UP I’ve been suffering from a touch of the January blues and want to give myself a boost before my wedding in March. What do you suggest? Jo says: Firstly overhaul what you’ve been doing over the winter months and focus on spring 2022. Refresh your wardrobe, think new spring shades and try combining them with winter hues, like berry with teal or navy with pink. ❤ Skincare Give your complexion a boost. Temple Spa’s Truffle Collection of brightening and radiance products is packed with goodies to help plump and rejuvenate tired skin. You could treat yourself to a signature facial with massage therapy in our VIP private salon too, perfect for pre-wedding R&R. ❤ Diet Cut back on caffeine and lower the amount of alcohol you consume. Avoid processed sugars which can make your body feel bloated and your skin tired and uneven. Try incorporating avocados into your diet and plenty of water – around two litres daily will keep you refreshed and hydrated. Supplements like magnesium, iron and omega-3 can also help boost fatigue. ❤ Sleep Get into a good bedtime routine. Steer clear of social media an hour before turning in and switch off the news! Avoid any potentially negative influences that could stop you unwinding. ❤ Positive vibes Enjoy some constructive downtime; catch up with your best girls and get out more, even if it’s just for a stroll. ❤ Make-up Check out Chanel and AYU make-up collections for a bright, radiant bridal glow. ❤ Outlook Most importantly don’t let anyone spoil this special time. Stay focused, keep positive, motivated people around you and you’ll nail it! What do you predict? Sharron says: Wedding hair and make-up trends can change like wedding dress designs. What’s most important is to find something that you feel comfortable with and that complements you. Last year couples were just so grateful to have their wedding day that bridal hair and make-up tended to be more natural and relaxed. This year could be all about the dress, so a simple hairstyle with texture and a loose, airy look would work well. Think hair up or down with softness around the face, beach waves and twists instead of uniform curls, again with texture. Hollywood waves are likely to remain popular too. Sharron Wratten | Wedding hair and make-up artist www.eleganthairandbeauty.co.uk NATURAL BEAUTY I’m a typical redhead with pale skin, freckles and green eyes. I have no idea what to do for my bridal make-up as I hardly ever wear any - can you help? Kate says: Firstly, count yourself lucky, red hair, freckles and green eyes is an extremely beautiful combination. You don’t need to wear loads of make-up on your wedding day, but there are some areas you should concentrate on to look good in the photos. If you’re not used to wearing foundation, leave it out. Opt for a good moisturiser and a concealer for any problem areas, such as redness around the nose and chin, and use a slightly peach tone under the eyes to combat any bluish tint, often found on paler skin, from grinning through. To add warmth, use a light, matte bronzer, which won’t fight with your freckles or make you look too orange, and apply a cream blush high up on your cheekbones. Green eyes can take most colours but try to stick to warmer brown shades to really make them pop. Brown vinyl eyeliner and mascara will help prevent you from feeling too made up, as it looks less harsh then black. You will need to add a little colour to your lips so they show up in the photos, but it doesn’t have to be bright. I like to add a lip stain in the centre and tap the edges with my fingers for a more lived-in look. Use a lip balm throughout the day for comfort and sheen. Make sure to powder any areas where you’ve used concealer and finish with a good setting spray. Kate Fletcher | Make-up artist | www.flashkate.com www.fountainphotography.co.uk 76
