Your East Anglian Wedding - Page number 21 - October/November 2021 (Issue 51)
Ipswich County Library is located in the centre of the town in a Grade II listed red-brick building. The striking Northgate Room, normally used as study and reference area, is also available for weddings. With a vaulted ceiling featuring decorative plaster mouldings, old oak bookshelves and tables, the 100ft-long room is full of atmosphere. In celebration of Suffolk’s cultural heritage, beautiful coloured-glass windows depict famous historic figures with links to the county. Licensed for ceremonies, you can tie the knot at the end of the room between two of the stunning windows against a backdrop of oak bookcases filled with books. The room can also be used for receptions with up to 72 people. We love... that access to the rooftop patio is available for photos. ISAACS ON THE QUAY, IP4 1AS 01473 284 000| www.isaacsweddings.co.uk Located on Ipswich’s elegant waterfront, Isaacs on the Quay is a magical place for a wedding. Full of character, the Grade I and Grade II* listed building boasts exposed beams, vaulted ceilings and many original historical features. Once home to a wool merchant and their business, it’s been lovingly restored and pieces of equipment used during the building’s long and industrious past can still be seen on display. The ceremony room, formally known as the Sale Room, was built between 1530 and 1550 and features magnificent, exposed timber beams, beautiful décor and atmospheric lighting. A romantic setting to say ‘I do’, it can accommodate up to 74 guests. There’s also a choice of rooms available for the wedding breakfast and reception. The Top Floor at Isaacs offers beautiful views over the marina and comes complete with its own private bar. Perfect for larger wedding parties, you can host a wedding breakfast for 80 people and reception for 150. During the spring and summer months, the private garden is great for an al fresco celebration with up to 200 guests. With plenty of plants and flowers and a calming water feature too, it’s the perfect spot for a barbecue. While for more intimate affairs the Crossways or Barley Room are ideal. We love... the stunning views of the boats on the Ipswich waterfront.
