Owner Juliette Bendell reports that business has been brisk since re- opening with many brides opting to buy their dress off the peg after being unable to order over the crucial months from January to March during lockdown. She says, “The designer labels have been busy preparing their inventories for last-minute, lockdown brides wanting to order for their summer weddings ahead. We’re really delighted that brides are still choosing to go ahead with their weddings despite the pandemic!” T hank goodness brides-to-be can once again get up close and personal with gorgeous gowns in their search to find the one. Bridal boutiques throughout the region have been opening their doors to a wave of pent up demand. While everyone’s working to keep customers and staff safe and well, many have been limiting appointment numbers to the bride and two special guests. It’s best to check in advance though to see what measures are in place before arriving. TREND ALERT Owner Kim Burr predicts soft A-line styles will be in demand in subtle hues of dusky pink and nude tones with details like pockets, along with buttons and glitter tulle for a little sparkle to make the dress even more magical. “Who knew a wedding dress needed pockets, but our brides love them!” adds Kim. TREND ALERT Next year is set to be all about square necklines, clean lines and interesting lace designs, which the labels are focusing on heavily. 58
