Your East Anglian Wedding - December 2020/Janaury 2021 (Issue 46)
Before the evening disco, we had a glitter bar and petting animals, including donkeys, a pony, an alpaca, goats and even a snake. My aunt Michelle made our wedding cake and lots of our friends brought cakes for the dessert table. We used ladders, suitcases, buckets, milk churns, watering cans and baskets to dress the inside and outside of the barn. We used up-lighters to illuminate the barn and had festoons hanging from the beams with jars of fairylights in the windows and on the tables and ladders. Tom bought two suits, a navy and a checked three-piece. He wore the blue one on the day with the waistcoat from the checked suit which came in use for a friend’s wedding a few weeks later, so it was definitely worth buying both! We didn’t really have a colour theme, we just kept everything very rustic and bright. Tom’s parents made hundreds of metres of brightly coloured bunting and collected rustic props from car boot sales in the months leading up to the wedding. We designed and made all of our stationery and signage ourselves. After the ceremony we had outdoor games including ring toss and space hopper races. We also gave our guests mingle bingo sheets to help everyone get to know each other. REAL WEDDINGS 37
