Your East Anglian Wedding - August/September 2020 (Issue 44)

“ “ SKIN DEEP Establishing a good skincare routine early on is one of the most important steps towards achieving a flawless bridal look. Suffolk-based make-up artist Victoria Bradfield shares her expert advice: With so many weddings having to be postponed, it’s leaving plenty of time for brides to get their skincare routine in place. If you’re switching from a summer to an autumn or winter date your skin could be drier due to chilly weather and central heating. Many people also tend to neglect their skincare more in the winter than the summer months when they feel more visible. In winter inflammation can be heightened as well as problems like acne, eczema and rosacea, so reparative ingredients and defensive antioxidants are important. Get your glow back, seek out professional advice and invest in product with great SPF, to wear every day come rain, shine or snow! Look for one that also protects against the blue light given off by our phones, tablets and devices. With time to get your skin looking its best before your big day, this will help your make-up to go on so much better and look flawless. VICTORIA LOVES British ranges like Katherine Daniels; great for beautiful skin and combating problems caused by pollution and sensitivity. THE MAKE-UP TRIAL Victoria's top tips: ❤ This is possibly the first time you’ll meet your chosen make-up artist so it’s really important to have a trial. If it’s not possible, I’d recommend at least having a video chat. You want to use this opportunity to get to know them and how they work so you can feel comfortable and confident with them on your wedding day. ❤ Before the day of your trial make a Pinterest board of looks you like or take a favourite picture of you along (we all have that profile shot that makes us feel amazing).  ❤ Wear a top in a similar shade to your dress; make-up can look very different against different colours. ❤ Don’t be afraid to say what you like and don’t like, be open and honest. Make-up can be changed, removed and reapplied, it’s what the trial is for. ❤ For photos you’ll still be proud of in years to come, try to stick to a more classic look that won’t date. ❤ Most of all enjoy yourself, the trial is meant to be fun. Most brides want to look like themselves on the big day; just a more glamorous version. Finding the perfect look to suit you, your personality, the style and theme of your day are key considerations. Do your research, get personal recommendations, take photos of cuts, finishes and looks you like and book a trial with your chosen stylist. Get in quick to avoid disappointment, as professional wedding specialists get booked up early! Take a picture of your dress with you to your appointment and get plenty of snaps of your hair from all angles during the trial to make sure you’re happy with the final effect. If in doubt, avoid anything too radical like changing the colour of your hair or chopping off your long locks just before the big day. After all, you want your partner to recognise you as you walk up the aisle!
