Your East Anglian Wedding - June/July2020 (Issue 43)
REAL WEDDINGS 31 “ S ometimes it’s hard to spot things even when they’re right in front of your eyes! Matt and Rebecca finally got together after a great deal of nagging from Matt’s brother and Rebecca’s good friend who both thought they’d make a great couple. “We eventually decided to go on a date and quickly realised we had loads in common including the same immature sense of humour, similar interests in film and music, a passion for travel and visiting new places as well as aspirations and goals,” Rebecca reveals. POPPING THE QUESTION The relationship took off and in September 2017 they jetted off to California, hired a convertible and road tripped along the West Coast from San Francisco to Los Angeles before heading to Las Vegas. On the way, they stopped off for the night at the coastal city of Monterey. “We went for a meal in the evening, shared a bottle of wine and then walked back to our hotel along the beach under the light of the moon where Matt got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a night we’ll never forget,” remembers Rebecca. THE PERFECT PLACE They opted for a spring wedding with a coral and navy colour scheme and a church ceremony. “We knew we wanted to get married in church but didn’t want to have to travel far for the reception,” explains Rebecca. Hengrave Hall ticked all their boxes. Rebecca explains, “It’s a beautiful Tudor mansion with a Medieval church less than 20m from the hall. Set in gorgeous landscaped grounds, with plenty of accommodation on site, it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted.” LOOKING THE PART Shopping for her dress at Fairytale Gowns in Stalham, Norfolk, proved to be an unexpected pleasure for reluctant shopper Rebecca. “Louise was so patient and helpful, it made my dress buying experience so much more enjoyable than I could have imagined, as I don’t usually enjoy shopping for clothes!” she says. “The dress had a nude-tone base with a cream lace overlay which made it really distinctive compared to many I’d tried on which were typically a single colour.” The diamanté waistband added sparkle and she completed the look with a pearl embellished veil, lace-finish shoes from Monsoon and diamante jewellery from Glitzy Secrets for the finishing touch. “Sharron, my hair and make-up artist was amazing. Despite having an afternoon ceremony, we had to start getting ready at 6.30am as there was not only me and my mum to do, but my four bridesmaids as well.” “
