SHARING IS CARING Norfolk’s Buns of Fun Bakery is looking to the future with a new venture up its sleeve. Already renowned for her showstopping wedding cakes and sweet treats, Emma Thorburn and her husband Will are planning to launch a vegan platter-board style grazing experience ‘La Vegan Loca’. “We hope to provide something yummy, sweet or savoury, and totally different to the norm,” says Emma. Savoury chef Will will be putting together meze boards including Mediterranean antipasti, vegan cheeses, homemade ‘cheat meat’, pasties, mini pies, dips, veggies and bite-size munchies; perfect for the post-vows drinks reception. Emma is on sweets, offering everything from tasty lemon shortbreads with vegan lemon curd and mini beetroot brownies to almond butter caramel dip, vegan cookies and more. Watch this space www. bunsoffun.co.uk NEW HOME Norfolk wedding photographer Neil Coomber-Webb has been making the best of his time in lockdown settling into his new studio in Thetford in readiness for all the weddings to come. Neil of Thetford Photography has been shooting weddings for the past three years travelling all over East Anglia and beyond. After starting out working from home, he moved into his first studio in December and has now expanded into new and bigger premises in Thetford. “After a week of breaking down the first studio and moving into the new one at the beginning of March I had a couple of weeks before we went into lockdown. Although it’s currently a rather under-used resource it’s ready and waiting for all the new clients to come. I’m lucky to have a good landlord and backing so can survive which is reassuring for couples that have booked,” says Neil. Under normal circumstances he likes to deal direct with his couples and do everything face to face but currently has been holding all his introduction meetings via Zoom and other social networks in order to get to know his couples. “It’s really important to make sure you establish a connection as having the wrong person to shoot your wedding can ruin the day. Having had that happen to me 20 years ago, I wouldn’t want to do that to someone else,” he adds. What’s more, as an added bonus he now offers drone photography too. As well as keeping in touch, offering support and reassurance, he’s running special photo shoots for couples to mark their original wedding date. “As a photographer my job is to create smiles, so I’m always trying to look for the positives and pass that on by trying to help my couples as much as I can,” he explains. “Apart from keeping in touch to let them know they have people there supporting them, I’ve also been arranging pre-wedding shoots to take place on the day they would have been getting married, social distancing measures in place of course. This has proved to be really popular as they can get dressed up in their best clothes and feel special, I can get some lovely photos of them and they can mark the day so it’s not a complete whitewash.” To find out more visit www.richardjarmy.co.uk On the button Norfolk wedding cake specialists Sugar Buttons has a smart new website. Owner and baking supremo Imogen Davison has revamped it to reflect her arty style and how the business has developed. “My old site did a great job but it needed an update. My brand has grown up a bit and the new look is more in keeping with the creative work I’m known for. I have turned the focus away from celebration cakes to my wedding cakes and cake school,” she explains. Imogen specialises in creative, avant-garde designs and loves a challenge. “I’m constantly bowled over by the inspiration my couples bring me! I like to think of my cakes as edible art; both in terms of design and taste.” As well as creating amazing cakes, she likes to pass on her skills to others and offers not only tuition, but cake decorating parties too; great for an alternative hen do.
