78 Create the luxe effect with rich colours, dramatic backdrops and decadent touches Images courtesy of Mark Nortcliffe Photography MAGIC Venetian I nspired by the decadence and mystery of a Venetian masked ball, Cambridge-based photographer Mark Nortcliffe came up with the vision for this glamorous shoot. Set at the magical Oxnead Hall in Norfolk, the remarkable features inside and out provided a wealth of opportunity for local suppliers to get creative. “The venue afforded us the perfect backdrop with the fountain courtyard and richly laid sunken parterre with its neat symmetrical hedgerows and interconnecting paths which gave reference to the myriad intertwining bridges of Venice,” explains Mark. The dramatic settings, use of gold and rich colours, style and sophistication were all elements pulled together to create the look. Sumptuous velvet, over-the-top statement floral arrangements and the heavily decorated banquet table, adorned with gold cutlery, cut-crystal glasses and candles added to the decadent feel. “For this same sex wedding shoot, I wanted it have a strong masculine tone which was reflected in the stunning personalised stationery with gold-leaf detail and monogram. Elegant marbled signage was included and the decorated cake base gave a nod to Italian porcelain tiles,” adds Mark.
