89 EXPERT ADVICE Q&A HAIR & BEAUTY Your bridal look sorted TAMING YOUR LOCKS My fiancé and I would love to have an outdoor photo shoot to celebrate our engagement but want it to look as natural as possible. I have fine shoulder-length hair and would like to do something with it so it’s not too fly-away and wispy and I can look and feel confident, but not over done. What would you advise? Becky says: If you haven’t already embarked on a pre-wedding regime, I’d suggest the following hero products before styling your hair for the shoot. First apply Lee Stafford Beach Babe Sea Salt Spray for amazing volume and hold (great for stay-put curls too), followed by Feather Light Frizz Ease by John Frieda. Using these two combined, you’ll have volume, hold and shine! Finish with Lee Stafford’s Dehumidifier Spray to protect from any flyaway strands. As far as what style to choose for the big day, a lovely soft updo or half-up, half-down style will help you feel confident and keep your locks in place. Amanda says: Good hair and make-up artists have bookings at least a year in advance and are always looking ahead and researching the upcoming trends in order to help and advise brides-to-be. Many of our brides start growing their hair as soon as they’ve booked the venue to make sure they can get the style they want. Don’t worry though if yours isn’t long or thick enough for your chosen look as clip-in hair extensions can provide extra volume and length. Plaits, twists and texture are all still very much in favour for the coming season but possibly with slightly less structure to go with the amazing dresses hitting the rails for 2020. Ethereal floaty gowns suit hair with soft waves and texture more than the structured chignon of a few years ago. A beautiful natural bridal glow is still on point, with make-up to enhance the eyes, maybe with some lashes for that extra bit of wow! It’s really helpful to have a moodboard to work from, so start gathering your ideas as soon as possible to take to your trial and consultation. It will really help your stylists understand what you want so you can look and feel amazing! Amanda Steed | Hair & Make-up artist | amandasteedmakeup.co.uk
