Your East Anglian Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 40)
The ceremony was really beautiful. We wanted to get married in Cambridge as Dev grew up there. I got ready with my girlfriends at Hotel du Vin in Cambridge as the church was just around the corner. A fter meeting online, Hillary and Dev got together in September 2016. “I was attracted to him because he has such a gentle soul and I’d never met anyone as thoughtful, and he fell for my sense of adventure. Originally from Australia, I’d just moved to London from Hong Kong and when we first started dating we spent a lot of time visiting many of the city’s attractions. I think Dev really liked getting to know London again through fresh eyes.” They celebrated their first Christmas together a couple of months after their first date and a year later went on a last-minute trip to Copenhagen for the festive markets. “The Tivoli Gardens are amazing at that time of year and it was wonderful being there with all the fairylights, drinking mulled wine and soaking up the atmosphere,” remembers Hillary. “We went on the famous Ferris wheel and when we were at the top, Dev popped the question with a Harriet Kelsall proposal box. It was such a lovely experience when they made the engagement ring and then going back four months later to ask them to make the wedding band.” Their love of Christmas meant the festive season was the obvious choice for their wedding. Read on for Hillary’s account of the big day... I walked down down the street with my friends and family following behind. It was really memorable as there was a buzz in the air and everyone was excited. 48
