Your East Anglian Wedding - October/November 2019 (Issue 39)

87 EXPERT ADVICE SEASONAL SHADES What type of colour palette would you suggest for my October wedding? Stephanie says: As autumn and winter set in, the sky’s a little darker and the colours of nature change from bright and vibrant to burnt orange and various shades of red, dark green and brown. These factors can not only inspire the style of your big day, but also influence how you’d like your make-up to look. For example, the softer pink and nude tones of spring and summer are left behind and in come rich berry and red hues; perfect for adding an up-to-the-minute seasonal twist to your make-up. If you’re feeling particularly daring, why not add an extra pop of colour, like forest green eyeshadow and smoke it out under the eye (as pictured) using a small blender brush? Green works particularly well for brown and hazel eyes, making them really stand out. Pair this with a red lip and your look will be right on trend! Shadows with warmer red undertones are also amazing for green eyes and for blue-eyed brides, try a soft smoky look using a neutral brown palette.  Stephanie Alexandra | Make-up artist stephaniealexandramua.co.uk bigphatphotos.co.uk BEAT THE FRIZZ We’re getting married in the autumn because it’s our favourite time of year but I’m worried about my hair. How can I weather-proof it in case it’s wet or misty on the day? Sharron says: Making sure your locks are in tip-top condition will help. Over styling, especially using high heat, or washing your hair too much can strip out natural oils and dry it out, so use conditioners to strengthen, repair and add moisture. Hair serums, smoothing and shine products are great for a sleek effect and regular trims will reduce fine, wispy split ends. In the run-up to the big day, try using a leave-in conditioner to give your locks an added boost. And if you’re planning to top up your tan pre-wedding, make sure to wear a hat and keep your hair covered to avoid damage from the sun, sea or pool. On the day, an updo will help keep the frizz at bay or try a style with texture, great for a stress-free, on-trend natural look. Sharron Wratten | Hair stylist and make-up artist eleganthairandbeauty.co.uk Q&A Your autumn wedding woes sorted HAIR & BEAUTY PREPPED AND PRIMED I use the same make-up all year round. How can I change it up for my autumn wedding? Victoria says: Don’t be afraid to go for heavier make-up for this time of year as the lighting is different to a summer wedding and soft pink and neutral shades can get lost. If you’re not someone who feels comfortable with a bold lip go for something more daring for your eyes. A smoky look with bronze and copper tones is very current, so you don’t have to go down the grey and black route. Try Pat McGrath Sublime Bronze Ambition eyeshadow palette for a rich gold, brown and burnt orange contour. Always use a good fixing spray to keep everything in place from day to night. I favour Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray. Don’t forget your skincare routine either, most people are much better during the summer but forget to be as vigilant during the winter when central heating and the cold air outside can quickly dehydrate and dry your skin. Make-up will go on much better and last longer if your skin is properly prepped and hydrated. Try to exfoliate your whole body and face once a week and use moisturiser every day. Find a serum that suits your complexion to give it an extra boost and a cream to look after the delicate area around your eyes, especially if you want them to be the focus for your wedding make-up.
