Your East Anglian Wedding - Apr/May 2019 (Issue 36)
We always wanted to get married in a barn and we looked at so many but never felt that wow factor until we set eyes on Manor Barn. I arrived in a beautiful vintage Beauford convertible. I wore a silver ivory Mori Lee dress with a long glittery veil and a sparkly hair vine and necklace to set it off. Two of my bridesmaids were in silver-grey long flowing gowns while my maid-of-honour wore a shorter lace-topped lilac dress. S ophie and Michael grew up living on the same street but only really got to know each other nine years ago. “It was at a mutual friend’s house,” remembers Sophie. “I’d fancied Michael for ages but it took a while for him to realise it. We were such good friends before we became partners that our relationship just grew from there.” Life became pretty hectic after having their little boy and moving house, so Sophie was thrilled when Michael booked a romantic weekend away for her birthday. “We had the honeymoon suite with a hot tub in the room and a beautiful four-poster bed and I just thought we were there for some much-needed time together,” she recalls. However, Michael had a surprise stashed away in her luggage. “He asked me to look in my bag for a present and when I found the ring box he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was really romantic and I was relieved it was just the two of us, as he was planning to propose in the restaurant but I’d have hated the attention!” They tied the knot two years later and opted for a rustic theme with a lilac and silver colour scheme. Read on for Sophie’s account of their big day... 54
