104 REGIONAL SHOOT  I nspired by 2019 wedding trends of bows, appliqué, bright hues and Pantone’s Colour of the Year Living Coral, Norfolk suppliers created this stunning Japanese- style bridal shoot. Historic wedding venue Pentney Abbey in Norfolk provided the perfect backdrop with its Medieval gatehouse, stone walls and atmospheric window light. “ We wanted to create an inspirational moodboard rich in symbolism and simplicity, a fusion of rich traditions, where old meets new, all wrapped up in contemporary bridal elegance. Our inspiration for brides is to keep it simple and be brave with colour combinations; focus on a few bright elements and rich textures to allow each individual detail to shine,” explains photographer Karen Fuller. “We began with the koi, a symbolic fish, closely tied to Japan’s national identity. We also took inspiration from the vintage collection of kimonos, obi sashes and fans owned by florist Sachiko Smale, featured in the styling of the shoot with striking patterns and accents of gold.” E A S T E R N P ROM I S E Add an exotic flavour to your big day with a mix of old and new and Japanese influences Images courtesy of Fuller Photography The bespoke fine ivory crepe dress reflected clean lines and simplicity with a 70s vibe. A detachable obi-sash back provided a subtle nod to the Japanese theme along with a hand-beaded detachable train, hand-painted with a koi fish design. Couture buttons and hand-stitched button loops added to the luxurious feel and the rippling of the base of the dress created a sense of flowing water. Hayley’s hair was styled as a modern geisha with large smooth rolls. “After rolling the hair to add lift and volume and make it easier to work with, the roots were backcombed and gently smoothed to one side, creating a beautiful large asymmetrical side roll. Once the amazing flowers were added the colours really popped.” ‒ Amelia, hair and make-up artist For the make-up the eyes were the focal point; bright pink and dramatic.
