Your East Anglian Wedding - Feb/Mar 2019 (Issue 35)
We know foliage and greenery were a big trend for weddings last year, is this likely to continue? Sue says: More than ever before 2019 is going to be the year when indoor plants are in the limelight! Succulents, ferns, trailing plants and terrariums are now very popular and more and more brides are including them as part of their wedding décor. Not only simple, stylish, green and eco-friendly, they’re beautiful too. Green is now very cool. You can have large bay trees with either straight or twisted stems, beautiful olive and pretty blossom trees; all available to hire to create a wow-factor feature. They can be decorated with hanging glass terrariums filled with trailing plants or kokedamas; quirky balls of succulents or other plants, encased in moss with macramé hangers – great as gifts or wedding favours for your guests too. Sue Huckle | Owner | poshplants.com LOVE YOUR GREENS WITH THIS RING My fiancé proposed at Christmas and he wants me to choose my ring to make sure it’s something I’ll love but I’m not sure where to start. What’s set to be big in wedding jewellery this year? Sara says: With regards to current trends I’d say, in line with the past few years, different coloured stones and precious metals are still prominent but now we’re seeing a shift, with yellow and white gold taking over from rose gold, palladium and platinum as bestsellers. Delicate and minimalist designs are also popular this year. The cost of metal and current financial uncertainty means a lot of producers and buyers alike don’t have the appetite for chunky designs! Stacking necklaces, bracelets and rings is very popular too and this always works best with multiple narrow pieces. As always, floral themes remain strong. Sara Sweet | Bespoke jewellery designer | sonkai.co.uk Sonkai tourmaline and diamond solitaire rings on delicate halo bands. MODERN MILLIE I love fashion and want my wedding dress to be on trend. What styles are really hot at the moment? Victoria says: The 2019 collections are awash with sheer, lace, colour and 3D embellishments, but my absolute standout favourite is minimalism. I’ve always loved it and I think I always will. We truly lucked out with the two royal weddings this year and both beautiful brides chose gorgeously classic gowns. Don’t forget though, if you go for something simple, the fit needs to be spot on as there’s no detail to hide behind. Another reason I love the whole less-is-more look, is that you can go all out with the accessories. Think gorgeous jewels, an amazing full-length veil, wonderful bouquet – there are no limits!
