Q&A Fashion & Beauty Local experts answer your questions GET THE LOOK Meet the expert: Hannah Holland is a professional mobile hair stylist and make-up artist specialising in bridal and special occasions. She created the look for bride Phoebe at her wedding to Greg on page 38 and here, she reveals how to get the look. Hannah says: I always suggest starting any wedding hairstyle with clean, dry hair before styling. Spray and comb through a good hair protection spray to ensure that you keep the condition of your locks looking fabulous. Using a large barrel tong, alternate the direction of the curls to create an effortless wave, and when you get to the face-framing strands, curl them away from the face for a flattering style. To get a bohemian-inspired wedding hairstyle like Phoebe’s, section off side pieces of the hair and create different size plaits. Use bobby pins or a hairband to tie the hair at the back. Phoebe didn’t wear any accessories or a veil, but you can add in any hair accessory from flowers and pins to vines. If you want a clean, textured look then use the Luminous Hairspray by Moroccan Oil (https://uk.moroccanoil.com). If you want a more beachy boho look, add in dry texture spray and scrunch the hair before using the hairspray. To create Phoebe’s glowy make-up look, it all starts with good skincare. Having a clean and clear complexion helps to elevate your make-up, so it’s worth the time and effort. Use a luminous base make-up like NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (www.narscosmetics.co.uk) layered with highlighters and blushers in creams and powders to get that lit-from-within look. Avoid any highlighters containing too much glitter, especially if you have any texture on the skin because this can draw attention to the area. Opt for subtle glow products like Charlotte Tilbury’s Beauty Light Wands (www.charlottetilbury.com). If you don’t feel comfortable wearing too much eye make-up then pick neutral matte shades for the eyeshadow and curl your lashes, finishing with a slick of waterproof mascara - glitter or shimmer isn’t for everyone. My tip for brides is to go with a style that you feel comfortable with not what you think that you should have, just be you! www.brighteyebeauty.co.uk www.facebook.com/brighteyebeauty www.instagram.com/brighteyebeautynorthdevon CHRISTMAS IS COMING! I’m having an Xmas wedding so can you suggest some wow-factor hair looks? Meet the expert: Lyndy Ewings is a professional hair stylist based in Plymouth, Devon. Lyndy says: Glitter isn’t just for festivals – it’s a beautiful addition adding shine to your bridal updo. Having a Christmas wedding means you can use plenty of it, along with seasonal foliage with the obvious choice being holly – there are so many options! If you love fairylights then why not wear them in your hair? They look stunning for a late afternoon or early evening wedding during the winter months as it starts getting dark. Let’s not forget the tinsel that can be subtly added to give a nice shimmer. Tinsel looks fabulous added in the bow ponytail that’s trending at the moment! www.modelmayhem.com/lyndyewings www.michelleleyphotography.com 72
