Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - September/October 2024 (Issue 51)

Nicole and Arron met via an online dating website during the lockdown and realised they shared mutual friends. “We quickly became friends and then fell in love,” they tell us. “We share a quirky sense of humour, a thirst for adventure and we are both spontaneous with very similar personalities.” Arron proposed on September 21st 2022 on the beach at Bamburgh Castle in Northumberland. “Being fans of the Vikings and The Last Kingdom, Bamburgh Castle was the ideal place for Arron to ask me to marry him while we were on holiday,” says Nicole. “He had tied the engagement ring to our dog, Mya’s collar and as he proposed, he called for her to come over.” Here, Nicole tells us all about their Viking-themed wedding. SETTING THE SCENE “Our chosen wedding venue, Carwinion House located in Falmouth, Cornwall is my great aunt and uncle’s home and when I saw it for the first time, I had my heart set on getting married there,” Nicole says. “We are so grateful to them for all the hard work they put into our special day and for setting everything up.” The couple chose a fun Viking theme for their wedding. Nicole says, “We had an archway decorated with wildflowers, greenery, a faux deer skull and antlers for our ceremony. Bamboo torches were dotted around the ceremony “We had a memory board displaying photographs of family members who had passed away plus timeline photos of our relationship and a thumb-print guestbook.” - Nicole and Arron 25 REAL WEDDINGS
