Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - July/August 2024 (Issue 50)

Lily and Shiv met at university, yet their paths never crossed until the very last day. “It was at the end-of-year celebration that I saw her in the student union,” Shiv tells us. “The stars were out, the exams were behind us, and Lily looked stunning. Before meeting her, I saw the world in black and white, governed by logic and reason. But that night, my world burst into colour. My heart understood feelings that reason could not explain, and I knew I had found somebody special.” Shiv proposed on the night of the Wolf Moon, the first full moon of the year, in 2022. “My colleagues helped me plan a perfect weekend getaway, knowing how much Lily needed a break from her hard work,” he tells us. “I booked a spa weekend at the Headland Hotel in Newquay, a place Lily adored for its luxurious spa and breathtaking views. After a massage and time spent in the outdoor spa, where we enjoyed sea views from the hot tub, we had a delicious dinner at the hotel, followed by a movie. Walking home from the cinema in Newquay, the clouds had cleared, revealing the stars in full brightness alongside the luminous moon. The timing was significant as it brought back memories “Our registrar was also the mayor of Helston which is the town of Lily’s family farm.” - Shiv “It was a dream come true for both of us. Seeing our guests enjoying themselves and being part of our special day was the best feeling in the world. The joy and love that surrounded us made the day even more magical.” - Lily and Shiv “Our wedding was a true celebration of our love, heritage, and the blending of two beautiful cultures, making it a memorable day for everyone involved.” - Lily and Shiv 39 REAL WEDDINGS
