Nadene and Steve met at The Devonshire, Derriford Health & Racquets Club where they worked. “I was in reception and Steve was a lifeguard of the swimming pool,” Nadene tells us. “Steve would walk past reception when starting his shift and leaving to go home. We soon started talking and then enjoyed our first date at the Jack Rabbit pub - we haven’t stopped talking since!” Steve proposed during the festive season. He tells us, “Nadene and I have always loved Christmas, the lights, food and gifts but most importantly the time to spend together. So this was the perfect time for me to propose! On Christmas Day morning, there was a red china bauble hanging on the tree with the engagement ring inside. I set a hidden camera in front of the tree to catch her reaction. Luckily for me, she said ‘yes’ making it the most special Christmas morning I’ve ever had.” SETTING THE SCENE The couple’s chosen venue, Pier One Plymouth overlooks the sea and offers a magical sunset in the evening. It’s perfect for all weather conditions because the panels can open on hot summer days, but equally there are heaters and cosy lighting for cooler times. “The wedding planner, Monika was included in the package which was so valuable because we didn’t know where to start!” Nadene tells us. “Monika guided us through every step and provided some recommended “Our photographer, Lauren Dillon was fantastic, fitting in with the bridal party whilst we got ready in the morning, capturing the ceremony beautifully and expertly coordinating group photos on the pier. ” - Nadene 27 REAL WEDDINGS
