Nearlywed The latest news from both counties EDITOR LOVES These Devonshire delights from www.pitchup.com are perfect for a mini-moon in the region. Why not book a spacious bell tent nestled in the Devon countryside, just a 15-minute drive from Newton Abbot, and a 20-minute drive to Dawlish beach with the beautiful Dartmoor on the doorstep? Set on a rural working farm, couples can meet the horses and alpacas, or head over the stepping stones to access several miles of beautiful forest trail. A stream runs down to a lake that connects to the river below and thanks to the lack of light pollution, this is a real haven for wildlife, so there is a good chance visitors will see glow worms and bats at night! Prices start from £120 for a Zippy Bell Tent for a minimum two-night stay, based on two people sharing. Another option is The Hen’s Dens at Orchard Organic Farm in South Devon where triangular cabins have heaters, electricity, a kitchen corner and a private shower and toilet. Beds and cooking equipment can be provided as extras and Paignton Zoo, the South West Coast Path and several beaches are all close by. Camping Pods start at £150 for three nights based on five people sharing and campervan pitches start at £30 per night based on five people sharing. The perfect place for surfers is Springfield Farm Glamping which offers stylish bell tents situated close to several surfing beaches and Exmoor National Park. They’re equipped with double beds and single pull-outs, storage chests, rugs, solar-powered fairylights and a firepit with a grill outside. Holidaymakers are welcome to bring their fourlegged friends along, too with a dedicated dog park on-site. Prices start from £390 for three nights (for up to four people). INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER MARTYN NORSWORTHY Devon-based photographer Martyn Norsworthy has been granted membership in the Photographers Bar, a unique distinction only awarded to those photographers who have successfully had images assessed by the Guild of Photographers for a year and have attained a score that evidences an exceptional level of professional skill and consistency. The Guild of Photographers is a highly respected association for all photographers, and its competition attracted over 13,000 entries in 2021 – all judged by an expert panel of judges each month. Steven and Lesley Thirsk, directors said, “We’re delighted for Martyn as this is a great achievement! Submitting and having images assessed every month for a year and reaching the required standards to become a member of the Photographers Bar is very demanding. It illustrates his commitment, skill, and consistency. Martyn should be immensely proud of what he has achieved.” Martyn adds, “I’m so happy to have been given this award. It’s a challenge to enter each month to a very high standard, but this shows that consistency and hard work pays off!” To find out more, visit www.photoguild.co.uk and to book Martyn for your wedding, visit www.norsworthyphotography.com NEWS EDITOR’S FAVOURITE These candles from the V&A shop have been handmade in Cornwall using traditional artisan methods and are perfect for summer weddings.
