Meet the expert: Sally Jackson is My Wedding Godmother, a bridal wellbeing coach helping brides prioritise themselves. Sally says: Most brides feel nervous about their upcoming wedding, it’s perfectly normal so take heart, you’re not alone! If you struggle with body confidence issues, you can quickly shift from feeling excited about the special day to dreading the thought of being on show. Here are my top tips to help: Preparing for the big day Visiting a bridal boutique and trying on dresses can be an ordeal for some brides-to-be and if the idea of being photographed makes you feel uncomfortable then even the prospect of having your hair and make-up done becomes daunting. Working with a wedding coach can help you to find peace, and courage, to truly enjoy your wedding and being the centre of attention for the day. Health and happiness One of the best ways to treat your body kindly is to fill your plate with colour, enjoying fresh fruits, vegetables and salads, naturally cutting down on sugar. As the mind and body work together, being mindful about what you’re eating is very important. Meet the expert: Giselle Michel-Gendre is a professional hair and make-up artist specialising in weddings with a background in film, television and theatre. She’s also experienced in working with prosthetics and wigs. Giselle says: Most of my brides want to “look like themselves on a really good day.” With this in mind, I would recommend sticking to a more natural look that emphasises your key features. Colours ideal for summer weddings tend to be fresh and bright ones with brides choosing soft pink, rose gold, champagne, gold and pale orange tones on their eyes, usually with a shimmery glow. A cat-eye, created with a flick of liquid liner, or a smoky eye using deep brown shades, are great ways of enhancing your eyes without making them look too heavy. Dewy skin is a romantic look for an outdoor summer wedding, achieved by using generous amounts of highlighter, while popular lip colours include barely-there shades and soft pink. Braver brides often choose rich corals and red! If you’re lucky to have good weather for an al fresco early-autumn celebration then skin looks great at this time of the year with a slightly more matte appearance teamed with earthy or orange and brown eye colours, and plum lip shades.
