B hagyashree and Andrew met at university. “We were both studying for a PhD in different subjects and worked as resident tutors,” Bhagyashree tells us. “We knew of one another but never spoke until one night out on campus where we bumped into each other and started chatting. We became friends and felt that we shared a similar outlook on life. It took us a few months to admit that we were attracted to each other and a year later, we started dating.” The couple became engaged during a surprise proposal in Bath. “Andrew and I both knew that we wanted to get married but I didn’t know when or how he would propose,” Bhagyashree says. “Andrew lived in London at the time and would visit me in Bath every weekend. On this particular weekend, it had been snowing and he asked if we could visit Alexandra Park which is a local landmark with a picturesque view of Bath which was a special place for us while we were dating,” Bhagyashree tells us. “Andrew was nervous but I was oblivious, enjoying the adventure of walking up a steep hill at night in the snow! We reached the top and were admiring the view when Andrew got down on one knee holding a beautiful ring. He popped the question and managed to put the ring on my finger without dropping it in the snow!” SETTING THE SCENE Andrew grew up in Devon and has happy childhood memories of spending time in Sidmouth which helped the couple decide where to wed. “He took me there one weekend,” Bhagyashree explains. “I remember feeling calm and at peace on the beach.
