Ione says: As we all know, 2020 was a difficult year where no one knew whether they would be getting married or not. This year, I think that many couples are realising that their wedding is all about their love for one another so some are booking elopement weddings and intimate micro celebrations that look set to be the new normal, at least in the short term. Because the idea of eloping together sounds romantic and magical, this year’s trending bridal hairstyles will look effortless and flowing instead of being structured and tight. Brides will be choosing natural-looking waves decorated with small, delicate flowers, or opting for loose up dos that work well on textured hair. As for make-up, I think that many brides will want to achieve a healthy bronzed glow possibly teamed with a bold lip colour. YOU GLOW, GIRL Please can you offer me some bridal hair and make-up ideas for a small outdoor ceremony in the region this summer? Images courtesy of Ione Kutz Meet the expert: Laura Elizabeth is a hair and make-up artist located in Devon covering the South West. She is trained in traditional make-up, airbrushing and all aspects of styling hair. Laura says: My prediction for weddings this summer is the stripped-back, natural look because I think that the lockdown period has shown us all that we can live without all the extras. I’m excited about this trend and cannot wait to see a return of bare- faced brides embracing their natural glowing skin, especially those with freckles. This looks great teamed with fresh eye colours like pops of blush that compliment the skin’s natural hues. Those who prefer a fuller coverage will be surprised how much work goes into achieving a natural look. It’s all about working with what you’ve got and enhancing the beauty that’s already there. The best thing that brides can focus on right now during the extra time at home that we have all been given as a result of the pandemic is their skin, really nourishing and looking after it getting ready for their big day. Good skin creates the perfect base for any bridal look. Here are my top tips for achieving it: ❤ Hydrate - I can’t stress this enough! Drink at least two litres of water each day. ❤ Invest in a simple and practical routine, don’t overcomplicate it. Source products that work for you and stick with them - consistency is key. ❤ Exfoliate two to three times a week to scrub away dead skin cells. ❤ Remember SPF - this is such an important product, especially for summer brides. Get into the habit of wearing it daily, even during winter. Finally, try to reduce the number of days that you wear make-up on and make sure that you thoroughly cleanse your skin to remove all traces of products. For an instant glow, place an ice cube in a clean cloth and move over freshly cleansed skin in circular motions. This is a great way to get an instant glow and tone the skin at the same time!
