Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - September/October 2020 (Issue 27)

We were lucky enough to win some topiary letters which spelt our new married surname Lamoon that we displayed at the entrance to the venue. We also set up a table with our wedding postbox and included pictures of our relatives who couldn’t be with us. The venue was a blank canvas that allowed us to style it exactly how we wanted. The team were flexible to our tastes and great to work with. We hired a marquee which we dressed with hay bales, Chesterfield sofas and fairground games. It was important for us to choose a venue that reflected us both. We wanted a relaxed feel and one that allowed us to invite a large number of guests, but that still felt intimate. We loved the fact that we could spot Dartmoor, which is where we had our first date, from the barn itself. The barn was located right next to a brewery which meant that we had draft ale to keep my Dad happy! Our welcome drinks consisted of beer from the brewery, prosecco and our very own Mr and Mrs cocktails - Sam’s was a dark and stormy and mine was an elderflower gin fizz! Our floral arch was stunning and the hand-tied silk complemented the beautiful colours in the blooms. We dotted the aisle that led to this with candles, pumpkins, gourds and squashes. My dad surprised me on the morning of my wedding with a white Jaguar. I had always dreamed of arriving at my wedding in an old-fashioned Jag and this one was called Lulu. An extra- special touch to our ceremony was when we read a poem to each other. 40
