We both have a sweet tooth and wanted something fun and different for our cake. Rather than having just one, we opted for a cake table that consisted of a Victoria sponge, cake pops, brownies, a lemon drizzle, fruit cake and red velvet cake, and more. In the evening, we hired a popular local band called Stone Roots. Their fun pop-funk covers had everyone dancing and ended the day on a high! Our flowers for the top table were beautiful arrangements in large milk churns that consisted of lilac lisianthus, lavender, white astilbe, blue delphinium, eryngium, limonium and eucalyptus. We also had milk churns filled with blooms outside the barn. As favours, we donated to the Mount Edgcumbe Hospital who cared for my mum before she passed away in 2011 in exchange for pins to wear in her memory that ensured she was part of our special day. We had eucalyptus displayed in glass carafes and gold table numbers as our centrepieces. The bridal party bouquets consisted of the same as the top table arrangements while the groomsmen wore lavender and thistle buttonholes. Our bridesmaids looked beautiful in their chiffon navy mid-length dresses. My bouquet showed a photo charm of my late mum. 36
