G abby and Rich met at sixth form. “I was at the girls’ grammar school and Rich was at the boys’ one,” Gabby tells us. “We were in the same friendship group but it wasn’t until we met up again during the summer break of our second year at University that we officially got together. Throughout our final year, we had to travel seven hours across the country to visit one another but clearly, we both felt it was worth it! Rich has got a great sense of humour and has always been able to make me laugh, and I think that was what first attracted me to him.” The couple became engaged after seven years together during a romantic getaway. “Rich organised a trip to Bath for us and I had just began my teacher training so it was a welcome break for me,” Gabby tells us. “My maiden name is Prior and Rich had identified the stunning Palladian Bridge in the grounds of Prior Park as the perfect spot to pop the question. The proposal was a complete surprise and Rich had managed to keep the ring hidden on the Friday evening and Saturday morning before proposing to me that afternoon. That evening we enjoyed a fantastic five-course meal at the Gainsborough Hotel. Rich had thought of everything!” Here, Gabby tells us about their special day at Upton Barn. REAL WEDDINGS 41 
