Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - Jan/Feb 2020 (Issue 23)
FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD We’re looking to marry in Cornwall and want a flexible venue where we can help to create the menu. Where do you recommend? Meet the expert: Cyril Eustice is the joint owner of Rosewarne Manor, a function venue and restaurant located in Hayle, Cornwall. Cyril says: Choosing a family-owned wedding venue is key to getting a personal service and it’s also important to consider choosing a restaurant over a hotel to really get a say in your menu. We don’t offer set packages, instead every couple creates their own one resulting in them paying only for what they need. All weddings held here have the opportunity to create a bespoke menu with up to four different options in each course, plus a child’s meal. We are also happy to include your favourite dish. Our most popular dessert option is the platter of cocktail desserts where each guest can sample five mini ones. Buffets are also an informal option for the main meal or evening reception, with everything being baked on our premises. We can guarantee exclusivity and also add in other personal touches like a welcome drink for each guest that they can choose from the bar. Meet the expert: Tara Price is the joint owner of the Devon Vintage Ice Cream Van Company with her husband, Andy. Located in Plympton near Plymouth, they hire vintage-style ice cream vehicles for weddings in Devon. Tara says: It’s all about Instagram these days so why not surprise your guests with something fun that they can hashtag? Our two vintage ice cream vans and our quirky ice cream trike look great and also provide mouth-watering treats. From summer sorbets and retro lollies, to award-winning luxurious ice cream in yummy honeycomb, pistachio and salted caramel flavours, to name just a few, there’s something for everyone. Why not feed your guests during the reception while you’re having your photographs taken or after the wedding breakfast as an alternative to dessert? Add personalised touches that your guests will remember, such as message bunting and cute accessories. This will provide an Insta-worthy backdrop to some of your big-day photographs, and we will let you hop on board for a few photos or even to make an ice cream or two! It’s important not to forget the little ones if you’re inviting them along, and this is where our mini popcorn cart, vintage sweet retreat and chocolate brownies come in.
