Could you suggest some ways that we can all look coordinated on my wedding day? Emma says: The key here is to find a few hairstyles that you all like. Search on Instagram and Pinterest and once you have narrowed down the desired images, talk about the things you like most about each style. I would then create a bespoke look to coordinate you all. For example, if you all like braids then your final choice can include these. If you all like strands framing your face, or half-up, half-down styles, or even certain bridal hair accessories, then you can include those, too. Popular looks include loose waves, corkscrew curls and ringlets, large braids scattered with small flowers, twisted knots, an unstructured bun (that looks great with a veil inserted from underneath) and side partings. LEADING LADY I want to make sure that my big-day hair and make-up choices complement each other, and also look suited to the style of my dress. Do you have any advice on how to achieve this? Mandy says: Some brides don’t realise that not all hairstyles or make-up looks work with every type of dress. For example, if you’ve chosen a high neck bridal gown then wearing long, flowing hair down does not always look flattering because it shortens your neck. You need to ensure that you apply the correct style of make-up for your features as well as your dress. For example, if you have strong facial features then you may not want contoured make-up that sculptures the structure of your face, and if you have softer ones, we can advise you on how to make your best ones pop, which colours work well, and how to complement your dress. We advise finding a good make-up artist who engages with you and talks you through the different styling options available. There’s nothing worse than finding your perfect dress but your makeover doesn’t work with it, and this is often something that’s overlooked. It’s important to have a thorough bridal experience taking everything into account, from advising on skincare and make-up to the styling of your dress and veil.
