Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - Sep/Oct 2019 (Issue 21)
“We hired a DJ for the evening reception who kept our guests up and dancing for the duration of it! Our first dance was to a song called Two Coffins by the punk band Against Me.” – Georgia We wanted a colour palette to complement the venue so our florist created a stunning floral archway framing the front of the church filled with soft pink and white roses and hydrangeas. Jack is a big shark enthusiast so I learnt to scuba dive soon after meeting him. We incorporated this into our day with our table names being the different sharks that we have dived with, for example the Great White. We had illustrations of these attached to each floral centrepiece. We kept our colour theme consistent throughout every element of our wedding, from the invitations to the cake that was trimmed with edible gold. Originally I wasn’t going to wear a veil but the lady in the bridal boutique suggested I try on a Cathedral-length style with scalloped edging. It finished off the dress beautifully so I wore it with a diamante headpiece that matched the detail on the dress. I also wore a pair of diamond earrings lent to me from my mum that were a gift to her from my dad. These were my something borrowed and my something blue was a garter that was a gift from my nan. The perfect finishing touch was my Jimmy Choo shoes, which were my something new . REAL WEDDINGS 49 I wore a dress called Ella by Ronald Joyce. I tried on about 15 different dresses and when I tried this style on, I loved it straight away. The vintage-style lace, fitted silhouette and detailing on the front was perfect – so much so that my mum was in tears!
