A cluster of on-site barns have been lovingly restored to host ceremonies, with the fruit orchards and walled cottage garden the perfect place for a relaxed reception. The in-house chefs use the best seasonal produce while the organic meat is reared, prepared and cured on the farm. Ceremonies are held in The Rusty Barn with its exposed beams and rustic-inspired interior, or outside overlooking the courtyard. The wedding breakfast takes place in The Oak Barn seating between 75 and 130 guests at trestle tables, and the wood burner and atmospheric lighting here provide a magical setting for a winter reception.Guests can make use of the grounds during summer and relax on the lawn. There’s also camping available in tipis during peak season sleeping a further eight guests. The tipis feature comfortable beds and shower facilities. THE GREAT BARN DEVON, HIGHER ASHTON, EXETER This exclusive-use wedding venue sits in the courtyard of a family home surrounded by 120 acres of idyllic countryside. The Great Barn hosts the ceremony, wedding breakfast and reception all under one roof, while the newly refurbished West Barn a few steps away provides a great space for reception drinks in the event of bad weather. There’s also the Roundhouse attached to the barn offering a bar area, plus two cottages on-site that can sleep a total of 13 guests. Owners Emma and John are going to be increasing the accommodation to include their current home providing space for up to 27 guests. Ceremonies take place outside under the arbour in the walled garden, with the entrance being through the Medieval courtyard via an ancient arched gate draped with wisteria. Alternatively, they can take place inside The Great Barn. The wedding breakfast inside the barn will be using in-house catering from 2020, with 160 guests seated at round tables or 190 loved ones at trestles. Couples wishing to serve guests drinks and canapés outside can do so under the walnut tree, and lawn games can be set up along with a power supply to accommodate live musicians or a playlist.
