VENUE STYLING 55 SUMMER LOVIN' We ask local experts for their suggestions about how to style an outdoor summer wedding With summer being the most popular time of year to get married, and al fresco features like outdoor wood-fired ovens, year-round structures, and garden games becoming a staple at many venues, we reveal some new ways to style an al fresco wedding. Lesley Measures, owner of Lovingly By Lesley Weddings & Events, offers styling packages to suit all budgets. They include hiring and supplying items for weddings throughout both Devon and Cornwall, venue dressing and on-the-day coordination. Examples of items hired are chair covers and sashes in a variety of colours, a backdrop of fairylights, candy carts, a princess carriage cake stand and artificial roses and laurel trees. For outdoor wedding inspiration, Lesley suggests using props to bring the indoors out. “Set up a vintage cake stand and crockery on old fashioned crates and use picnic baskets to add to the look.” “Add decorative signs around the grounds, like this one displayed on a wooden easel, which always looks really effective.” “Either use one colour for the chair sashes, or experiment with two that match your theme and complement one another,” suggests Lesley. Lesley says that using one statement floral arrangement centrepiece on the ceremony table works well with smaller ones to match the bouquets tied to chiffon drapes lining the aisle. “This idea always looks so pretty and coordinated,” she says. Another attractive and Insta-worthy idea is to create a pretty floral archway. “This can be made using real or faux blooms and a cream vintage wire frame sets the shape perfectly,” says Lesley. “Standing a tall candelabra on an outdoor sweetheart table draped in crystals will glisten in the sunshine.
