Your Devon and Cornwall Wedding - Jul/Aug 2019 (Issue 20)
27 F rancesca and Ross met at a mutual friend’s anniversary party. “We were mates for a few years and eventually something just clicked and we began to like each other,” Francesca tells us. Ross proposed on the 26 th May 2018. “He hired a boat and packed a picnic,” Francesca tells us. “He told me to stand at the end of the boat because he wanted to take a photograph and when I turned around, he was down on one knee with the ring box open in his hands. I was totally surprised and began to cry!” SETTING THE SCENE The couple were attracted to the venue as they’d visited it the year before at a friend’s wedding. “I loved the tapestry in the main hall and how grand it was,” explains Francesca. “Also, when we got engaged, I asked Ross when he’d like to get married to which he replied, “I don’t know, maybe September the 8th?”. When we called Scorrier House to check their availability, the only date they had available until the year after was September the 8th, which was a sign I think!” The couple chose a grey colour theme for their big day. “Pinterest played a big part in our inspiration and we made all the favours and table plan ourselves,” Francesca tells us. All of our decorative pieces were in different shades of grey. The couple’s naked cake was decorated with the same vibrant flowers that adorned their tables. The centerpieces were blue jars filled with these blooms, and the stunning staircase was also dotted with floral arrangements. “We also had mix and match vintage cups and saucers that we filled with lavender and other flower varieties, and scattered blooms around the centrepieces,” Francesca describes. LOOKING THE PART “My dress was a lace off-the-shoulder style with a pretty train from “Just relax and enjoy every minute because it goes by so quickly!” - Francesca
