Your Devon & Cornwall Wedding - May/June 2019 (Issue 19)

REAL WEDDINGS 37  Sophie says. The couple also chose white and cream roses, lilac freesias, gypsophila and trailing ivy in their flower arrangements. “Because Dartington Hall is so picturesque, it didn’t need a lot of decoration,” says Sophie. “We simply dotted flowers and candles around and our fairytale theme was complete when the carriage centrepieces twinkled as night fell.” SETTING THE SCENE “My dress was by Enzoani and I loved it,” Sophie explains. “It featured a stunning A-line silhouette and had a lace top featuring beautiful beadwork. I chose a full-length veil to go with it that was scattered with diamanté details and teamed it with some bridal shoes from Dune. To me, they were my Cinderella shoes that I didn’t take off until midnight.” Sophie also wore a pearl necklace as her something old that had sentimental value because it was a gift from her dad, and a pair of pearl earrings to match as her something new. Being in the military, Ashley wore his Royal Naval uniform and the couple’s bridesmaids wore pale blue off- the-shoulder dresses that complemented the groomsmen’s blue cravats. TIME TO CELEBRATE “Our pianist, Hannah, played for us during our wedding breakfast on the grand piano, which sounded so romantic,” Sophie tells us. “As a special treat, she played some Disney songs that everyone loved.” In the evening, the couple had a DJ who played everyone’s requests. MEMORABLE MOMENTS “The best part of the day for us both was then the church doors opened and we saw each other again for the first time,” Sophie tells us. “It was a magical moment and we held hands throughout the service.” Another lovely moment during the day was when the couple drove to the beach where they had some photographs taken by the sea. “We enjoyed a few special moments together, just us two,” Sophie tells us.
