Sophie and Matthew said “I do” at Delamere Manor and kept their theme pure, simple and elegant Images courtesy of Stacey Oliver Photography A PURE LOVE Sophie and Matthew met on Tinder and chatted for a few weeks before deciding to meet. Matthew picked Sophie up and took her to Macdonalds for a milkshake. “It wasn’t a big deal but we had the best day ever,” she remembers. When he dropped her back home, he asked her to come to his car boot. Sophie wondered what he was playing at but went anyway. There she found 11 big red roses waiting for her. “It’s safe to say that from this moment, I knew he was the one for me,” she shares. Matthew took Sophie to New York for New Year’s Eve as a surprise for her birthday, but she had no idea what he had planned for the trip. Celebrating in Times Square, counting down to midnight along with everyone else, when the hour struck Matthew got down on one knee and asked Sophie to marry him. “I always thought if he was to propose he’d do it quietly, just the two of us,” she says. “That moment still feels so surreal.” Having decided to get married in 2024, Sophie began visiting venues with her friends Liam and Justine. Delamere Manor was first on the list, and the moment she walked in she said: “I will marry Matthew here.” After that, she visited several more venues with Matthew at her side but nothing else came close. Eventually, she decided to take him back to Delamere Manor, and as soon as he walked in, he knew too. However, the venue was a bit out of their budget, so Matthew told Sophie they would have to wait a little longer to tie the knot there. As sad as Sophie was to hear this, she agreed. A week later, Matthew booked a romantic meal for the two of them. Here, he surprised her with the news that he’d booked their wedding date at Delamere Manor for 14th June 2024. She wouldn’t have to wait after all. “I cried,” Sophie remembers. “I didn’t think he could get any more romantic, but here he was making my dreams come true once again.” 37 REAL WEDDINGS
