LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED No doubt, there’s an awful lot to think about when planning an outdoor wedding, and most of it wouldn’t even cross your mind for an indoor day. Jessica explains, “Beyond weather contingencies, consider practicalities like seating, shaded areas, and ways to keep your guests comfortable, such as giving out fans as favours. With careful planning and flexibility, your outdoor wedding will be as stunning as you’ve always imagined, with the peace of mind of being prepared for anything.” On the subject of comfortable seating, Ebony has more to add: “Bench seating? Take note of any guests who would need a chair with a back. Most venues would have reserves for this but if not you will need to hire them in.” There’s one guest though who doesn't need to worry about chairs and would be delighted to enjoy an al fresco celebration... “If you’d like your fury best friend to be your ring bearer most outdoor venues will allow this so make sure you ask!” Ebony says. HERE COMES THE FUN With the tough stuff out of the way, you can begin the fun part of styling your setting. Rachel Peers, founder and principal floral stylist at La Beau Fleurs, Warrington (www.labeaufleurs. co.uk) has plenty of valuable advice to offer when it comes to styling your al fresco space with flowers. “Planning floral arrangements for an outdoor wedding is a delightful experience. I love to get super-creative with ceremony styling and create a truly special space to remember. It’s important to work closely with your florist who’ll suggest the types of flowers that work best with the season's weather. “I recently worked with beautiful couple who chose to have their wedding in their garden at home. We incorporated exquisite white florals against a backdrop of fresh foliage to design statement pieces, including two show-stopping arches and a magnificent meadow runner. The weather for this two-day event was eclectic to say the least! We had sunshine, rain, wind and clouds, and back to beautiful sunshine just at the right time. The carefully chosen florals we picked for this event loved the varying conditions and we had very happy flowers! That’s why it’s important to choose correctly with the help of your floral stylist.” So, what might inspire your theme? “Go with the season,” Ebony says. “Blooms that are in season? Yes please! A festive menu? Yes please! Hot or cold reception drink depending on the weather? Yes please! Tying in all these things makes for a smooth seasonal theme for your wedding.
