I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FLOWERS; WHERE DO I START? Jacqui Owen from Jacqui O (www.jacquio.co.uk) says: Planning a wedding involves numerous decisions, and selecting your flowers is one of the most visually impactful. You don’t need to know everything about flowers, that’s why hiring an experienced florist is invaluable. Here are three tips to help you get started before meeting your expert. •Set the atmosphere: Envision the mood you want to create and think of a few words to describe it. Is it extravagant and enchanting, intimate and magical, or vibrant and fun? Whether you’re dreaming of a romantic garden-themed celebration or a chic, modern event, flowers set the tone and enhance the ambience. •Make it personal: Incorporate your personality into your floral arrangements. You’re the secret ingredient to the day of your dreams. Be confident and authentic, weaving your personality into your florals. Draw inspiration from your favourite colours, outfits, or hobbies to create a unique and authentic vibe. •Design consultation: Schedule a chat with your preferred florist. This will give you a better idea of their costs and style. Florists provide a personalised service, listening to your ideas and offering expert guidance. WHAT IF IT RAINS? Kelly Andrews, editor of Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding says: Consider the old saying: a pessimist is never disappointed. Prepare for rain and it can’t spoil your day. Devise a back-up plan that’s equally as incredible as plan A and this will stand you in good stead both mentally and practically. When you start visiting venues, talk to the team about their wet-weather alternative and make sure you get to see this space as well. You want to feel as good about this indoor option as you do about your dream al fresco setting and keep it in mind when you’re putting together your venue styling vision. Make sure your florist knows that you plan to say “I do” outside, and that your arrangements need to be easily transported inside in a flash should the heavens open. Also, come up with a plan of who will be doing said transporting. Your venue team, or indeed florist, may well have this in hand but if this isn’t offered, brief some handy members of your wedding party well in advance. Keep it cute. If you’re tying the knot at a time of year when it’s more than likely going to rain, stock up on some wedding white umbrellas to keep on hand at the ceremony in case your guests need to grab one while they wait or mid-dash. Umbrellas also make a fun feature for your photographer later on during your couple shoot. They’ll be well versed in shooting in dull conditions, in fact many prefer it as they don’t have the glare of the sun to contend with, so you can still be assured of some fabulous, fun photos. Try not to stress. What will be will be, embrace it. If you’re prepared all will be well. We’re British, we’ve got this! https://kapturedbylindsey.co.uk EXPERT ADVICE 47
