THE GREENERS Going green with Maddy and Dan’s sustainable wedding day was styled in a festive gold and green palette Images courtesy of Steven Rooney Photography Maddy and Dan met seven years ago via a dating app. They didn’t live in the same area at the time, so their first date was a bit last minute and brief, just to get an idea of what could be. Neither expected then what it would turn into. During that quick coffee at Cafe Nero, they were struck by how similar they were: both home bodies, passionate about reading, and adore dogs. They wanted the same things in life and that became very clear early on by virtue of the fact they felt able to discuss their potential together in just the first few dates. “Our subsequent meetings were a lot classier than the first one,” Maddy hastens to point out! The proposal was much discussed and meticulously planned – “Just us to a tee,” Maddy says. She was keen to be involved in buying the ring, even though she knew Dan would have done a great job, as they both knew it would feature an emerald, given their soon-to-be shared last name, Greener. They went to the jewellers together to pick it up, and what neither of them planned for was Maddy’s happy tears when she tried it on for the first time. “We decided there and then that we didn’t want to wait and proposed to each other right outside the jewellers on a bench,” Maddy shares. The couple had only recently moved to Merseyside before beginning to look at wedding venues. They thought they had a firm idea of a location in mind until they visited Meols Hall Tithe Barn, and everything else paled into insignificance. “We were both so quiet when we arrived, just wandering around the gorgeous grounds. It turned out we were both thinking the same thing: this was the one!” Maddy remembers. “The staff were so friendly and immediately trust-worthy. They allowed dogs at weddings; and showed us pictures of the floor-to-ceiling Christmas tree, which would be up for our December wedding. We were sold!” Maddy and Dan celebrated their big day at Meols Hall Tithe Barn on 16th December 2023. Read on at the bride tells us more... 33 REAL WEDDINGS
