THE SQUARE AT CHESTER ZOO 01244 650 209 | www.chesterzoo.org/thesquare The luxury 200-capacity venue, The Square, is now open following a three-year project to restore a Grade II listed stable block, which has stood at the heart of Chester Zoo since it opened in 1931. The original structures were once home to some of the Zoo’s first animals including lions, bears and chimpanzees. Now, the historical building offers a one-of-a-kind setting for weddings, where you’re able to tie the knot in proximity to 27,000 animals! Featuring a host of preserved original features that tell the story of its remarkable history, the building boasts an impressive gated entrance, a large private courtyard, exposed brick walls, vaulted rafters and large windows overlooking newly-created gardens. Many of the patterns and textures used throughout The Square draw inspiration from some of the endangered species the Zoo is working to protect. Indeed, conservationists say income generated by every occasion celebrated at the new venue will contribute to the Zoo’s charitable efforts to prevent extinction. The Atrium is the main event room here and can accommodate 200 guests with three further reception and breakout rooms taking the total capacity to 380. Each of the spaces can be used independently or used in combination, giving the venue the flexibility to host any wedding large or small. Other features include a bar and reception area, large private courtyard, a private garden, free access to the Zoo, the opportunity to add an animal experience to your package and in-house AV in each room, allowing guests to hear every word uttered as you exchange your vows.
