Your Cheshire and Merseyside Wedding - July/August 2022 (Issue 64)

BLOOMIN’ LOVELY JACQUI OWEN, JACQUI O FLOWERS www.jacquio.co.uk We’re engaged! Now what? For memories to treasure forever take some time to discuss what’s important to you both and incorporate some heartfelt, personal touches into your festivities. Getting started early means you get all the best suppliers to make your dreams come true, so it’s best to be organised. Take things one step at a time and prioritise all your wishes so you spend your money on the things that are most important first. If you love music, book the musicians or DJ first. Consider what you’re willing to compromise on, this will help you stay within budget. Also, let one supplier lead you to another – your florist might recommend a venue stylist or vice versa. I know nothing about flowers. Where do I start? How will I pick my flowers when I don’t know their names? Most couples will have an idea of the colours and ambience they wish to create, but perhaps not the flower names and that’s ok. That’s why having a floral expert on your team makes life easier. They’ll guide you and show you what’s available in any given season. After all, your wedding florals are so much more than bunches of flowers, they’re the fragrant focal point of your venue styling; a source of scent that will evoke memories of your big day for years to come; a symbolic accessory enriched with personal significance. How can we make our big day totally us? You’re the secret ingredient so be authentic and weave your personality into your day. Start by identifying your style –is it rustic chic or classic elegant? Look to your passions and loves in life for inspiration. What’s your favourite colour, do you love spontaneous, playful, bold splashes of colour or do you prefer timeless neutrals reminiscent of dreamlike frothy textural florals you would see in a Jane Austen film? What’s your passion or hobby in your spare time? What’s your top planning tip? Don’t be afraid to ask. Your chosen suppliers are your go-to, most-trusted experts during the planning process. When working with them, you should feel comfortable having honest conversations about what you really want. Their job will be to tell you what’s possible. Remember: planning your wedding should be fun. So, celebrate as many of your planning events as you can – go for lunch and have a glass of fizz or two after your dress fitting or meeting your suppliers. “WE DO” SARAH BOALCH, NORTH WALES CELEBRANT www.northwalescelebrant.co.uk We’re engaged! Now what? Sit back and reflect on where your journey has brought you and raise a glass (or two) to the amazing adventures that lie ahead for you both. By reflecting on your story so far, you’ll find it easier to highlight what makes you… you. This will make planning your big day so much easier as it will more than likely reveal your wedding style. If a celebrant conducts our ceremony, will we be legally married? Most couples don’t realise it’s the paperwork that makes a marriage legal, not the ceremony itself. Couples I work with carry out the formalities at their local registry office with two witnesses, which takes 10 minutes and costs around £60. This then opens up a whole world of freedom to you. By simply separating the legalities the ceremony can now include anything and be held anywhere, even outdoors. Not only that, but it can be 100 per cent tailored around you, your personalities, your story, and your hopes for the future – a real celebration of your unique relationship. How can we make our big day totally us? In the weeks running up to your wedding we’ll get to know each other better and I’ll ask all sorts of questions about key points in your relationship. This will help me to create a ceremony that really reflects you both and tells your story. What could be more you than that? What’s your top planning tip? Be true to you. As soon as a couple gets engaged, they’re often bombarded by well-meaning family members and friends making suggestions for W-day. So much so, you may eventually find yourself thinking things like, “Nan wouldn’t approve of that.” But remember, it’s your big day so the most important thing is that you love it. Thank them for their advice of course, but you do you and stick to your guns. www.loveadventure.co.uk alexandrawilsonphoto.wixsite.com 54
