Although their relationship started as friendship, it didn’t take long before something much deeper began to blossom. “Mark has a great energy and you can’t help but feel happy and positive in his company. His spark for life is infectious. I feel so lucky to have a husband who’s also my best friend,” Sophia says. Relationship goals! The bride admits to being quite the “control freak,” making her extremely difficult to surprise. However, Mark managed to catch her completely off guard with his proposal. The pair had arranged a family meal to celebrate his grandma’s 90th birthday, hiring a private room in a restaurant. As Mark stood to toast his gran and gave a heartwarming speech about her, he concluded by saying, “I would like to ask the lady next to me an important question.” Nothing suspicious there since Mark was seated in between the birthday girl and Sophia, but complete shock struck the assembled guests, and Sophia, as he turned towards her and got down on one knee, presenting her with the engagement ring. No time was wasted in booking the all-important venue. Sophia accepted Mark’s proposal of marriage that Saturday evening, and by the following Tuesday the date at Colshaw Hall was secured! “It’s one of those venues that any girl would dream of getting married in. It was the first one I saw and didn’t need to see any more,” Sophia says. She continues: “I wanted to get married somewhere modern with a traditional feel. The historical house itself is beautiful, and has that wow factor you’d want for your special day.” Read on, as the bride shares her treasured memories of the big day, 4 th July, 2019…
