Your Cheshire and Merseyside Wedding - May/June 2020 (Issue 51)
Catch up on the latest from around the region NEWS Nearlywed TELL YOUR STORY Photographer for more than 15 years, Cheshire- based Caroline White has captured almost 500 weddings in the UK and worldwide. To help with your planning while you’re not able to get out and about to chat to photographers at wedding fairs, she’s kindly put together a handy video of her top three tips for finding your very own visual storyteller. Here’s what she had to say: ❤ PERFORM? NO! Caroline tells us in her video that she’s learned from experience that couples are concerned about being photographed and generally feel uncomfortable about it. The answer is: choosing the right photographer for you. It’s still possible to meet your shortlist over Skype, Facetime or similar to get a sense of their personalities, and understand whether you’re going to gel on the day. Caroline says, “We practice the art of distraction and make you feel comfortable, allowing you space to be in the moment.” So, the good news is you won’t feel like you have to perform for the camera. ❤ PLAN? YES! Imagine the bliss of being happily oblivious to what your suppliers are doing on your big day, which will be the case if you’ve planned everything to perfection. Lists are key, so you can make sure you and your photographer can allow time to do what you need to. Ask them how long they’ll need for group and couple shots, and factor the time into your plan. It’s also good to have a plan A and B so that you’re prepared for all weathers. Discuss family members and group shots too in terms of how, and who, will be photographed. “Don’t assume anything,” Caroline says. Be armed with plenty of lists and plans, then simply hand over the reins to your suppliers. ❤ PRINT? YES! As well as having your digital images, Caroline highly recommends you have something printed too. She explains, “Having something tangible is your legacy, your air loom / heirloom to pass down to generations to come.” Plus, you’ll want something to show off. As well as being visual storytellers, photographers are also designers. They have the knowledge and skill to bring your photographs to life. This is the ninth award for the international session stylist. Andrew started his career in a salon on Woolton Village, Liverpool, where he discovered his love of hairdressing. Training as a head colourist at the salon, he spent four years mastering the art before moving into styling and cutting. Other ventures included setting up a mobile hairdressing business on a scooter before he became so in demand he needed a permanent base and so AJM Hair, based on Aigburth Road, was born. Upon winning the accolade Andrew said, “This is such a huge honour and I’m absolutely thrilled to win. I’m immensely proud and would like to thank my team and customers for all their support. I love hairdressing, it’s always been my passion. The next big thing for me is focusing on entering more competitions as a salon and raising our profile even more. On a personal level I’m focusing on raising my profile as a make-up artist as well as a hair stylist.” So, watch this space! Check out @AJMHAIR for further information.
