Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding - Jan/Feb 2020 (Issue 49)

35  REAL WEDDINGS back ribs, bourbon glaze chicken wings, and chilli cheese fries. The big-day bake was elegantly designed to complement the colour palette. Abbie says, “David was in charge of the flavours. We had four tiers – Victoria sponge, red velvet, chocolate and peanut butter, and lemon.” LOOKING THE PART The bride looked stunning in an A-line Christina Wu design. She says, “I attended a specialist plus size event at Liverpool Bridal Boutique, which gave me more choice. This was a simpler style than I thought I wanted, but I knew as soon as I put it on that it was the one.” The beautiful bride accessorised with a cathedral-length veil adorned with Swarovski crystals, satin shoes with a pearl heel, and a gold hair slide. Her mum’s diamond tennis bracelet served as her something borrowed . David wore a brown, three-piece Fellini suit. He accessorised with a bowtie made from his maternal family’s tartan, which he’d travelled to Scotland with his mum to get. The groomsmen were dressed in suits to complement David’s, and they paired theirs with green ties. The bridesmaids also wore a theme matching green in the shape of floor-length dresses from Virgos Lounge. TIME TO CELEBRATE The evening’s DJ had been sent a list of song requests in advance, so there was no shortage of floor fillers, and the newlyweds generously provided flip-flops lest sore feet be an excuse. The pair had also hired a photo booth. Guests were able to take their snaps home, while a copy was pasted into a guest book for them to sign. Abbie remembers, “People had lots of fun with this, as did we looking at the USB stick full of photos that we were given afterwards.” MEMORABLE MOMENTS The bride says, “I felt calm all morning until the registrar told me that my brother would need to stand on my left, instead of on the right as we’d rehearsed, which threw me. He was able to calm me down though, and walked me down the aisle singing I’m Coming Out by Diana Ross as he’d read that this was the perfect song to set a good pace!” David remembers, “It felt like a normal day when I was getting ready. It wasn’t until I saw the wedding party coming down the aisle towards me that the nerves started to kick in. But, as soon as I saw Abbie I knew I was nervous for all the right reasons. I spent the rest of the day on cloud nine!” WITH THANKS Abbie and David couldn’t speak highly enough of their wonderful suppliers. The bride remembers, “The staff at the Titanic Hotel were excellent and the day ran exactly as we’d planned. “My hairdresser, Sonya, was a godsend! She was able to give us direction on when each person should be getting ready, when we should clear the room, and so on. She even came back in the evening to touch up my hair."
