Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding - Jan/Feb 2020 (Issue 49)

THE WORLD IS YOUR VENUE Hosted by National Museums Liverpool has launched a new events space, ideal for wedding receptions, within the historic World Museum. The venue hire and events division of National Museums Liverpool has added the Lower Horseshoe, a stunning exhibition gallery, to its already impressive portfolio of venues, and is now taking bookings for weddings from 2020. The space has capacity for up to 600 guests for a wedding breakfast and 800 for a reception, giving you the opportunity to dine and party within one of the city’s most important cultural venues. Head of events at the organisation, Katie Roberts, says, “Alongside the Lower Horseshoe, World Museum also houses the Sir Richard Foster Wing, a newly-refurbished aquarium and planetarium, meaning couples have plenty of options to choose from depending on the size of their party and the feel they want for their wedding.” With decades of combined events experience, the team have worked with hundreds of brides and grooms across a number of museums and galleries to deliver weddings with a difference, bespoke in every way from the theme to the food. The Liverpool-based baker beat off thousands of applicants to win her place on the show to compete with just three other cake makers all vying to be awarded the trophy for Best Christmas Cake. Leanne was inspired to try her hand at cake artistry after watching a TV programme about cake decorating and she went on to teach herself the art through books and online tutorials. A few short months later, she won a bronze award at the world’s largest cake competition, Cake International. She set up her business, KAKE by Leanne Harry, specialising in extraordinary showstopping bakes, just over six months ago. Sarah has seen a huge rise in demand for honeymoons in Asia, due to the exceptional value for money it offers, as well as its agreeable year-round climate. Matching long haul adventuring with our eco responsibilities can be difficult, but Travel Counsellors’ operator in Asia, EXO Travel, has been offsetting carbon from flights to their destinations for some time. Starting in 2020, they’re now able to calculate the average carbon footprint for each itinerary, offering you the opportunity to offset your entire trip for a small additional cost of $1.50 per person per day. This money goes towards supporting a range of projects that positively impact the climate along with tree planting programmes across the whole continent.
