Michaela and Jonathan styled their February wedding day in blush and gold tones Images courtesy of Chelsea Shoesmith Photography M ichaela was at college when she met Jonathan, who was working in the student union during his gap year. She says, “Jon was so funny with such a great smile. He was silly and didn’t take himself too seriously. He even tried to get me out of a parking ticket!” But it wasn’t until two years later that romance started to blossom when they got back in touch and started dating. After four years, the couple moved in together and haven’t looked back. Michaela came home from a riding lesson on Easter Sunday in 2018 to find a box wrapped in heart paper and sealed with two padlocks. Jon challenged her to an egg hunt and as the bride-to- be discovered each one, she also found a picture of the couple with a number on the back. Once all clues had been followed and all photos uncovered the number created was 01 11 12 – the day they started dating. Michaela opened the padlocks and inside the box was a homemade Beauty and the Beast inspired dome housing a rose. Inside the bloom was an engagement ring! “It was opal surrounded by diamonds, exactly what I’d hinted at! I was so surprised as I thought I’d find an elaborate Easter egg inside the box!” Michaela remembers.
