Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding - Sep/Oct 2019 (Issue 47)

REAL WEDDINGS 35  of remembrance they named each after loved ones who couldn’t be there on the special day. Both of their granddads featured as Stan’s Table and Charles’ Table. Sophie said, “Our guests absolutely loved how personal this was and there were so many happy tears.” Finally, complementing the monochrome theme were the black wooden script place names, a lovely keepsake for guests. DRESSED TO IMPRESS Sophie wore Betti by Milla Nova. She discovered the designer while doing some online window-shopping and couldn’t stop thinking about the dresses she’d seen. However, the only UK stockist was in Swindon, so it did mean dragging her entourage on a four-hour trip to try them on. Happily, it wasn’t a wasted journey as she fell in love with the one as soon as she stepped into it. The bride explains, “The floral bottom was my favourite part! We added more tulle to it during the alteration process to make it even more of a feature. I also added a piece of my mum’s wedding suit to make it extra special.” The groom wore a black tuxedo paired with a custom- made scoop waistcoat and accessorised with cufflinks engraved with their initials. The couple gifted each other their wedding shoes – Jordan’s were Christian Louboutin Greggo patent and Sophie’s were her dream Manolo Blahniks. The groomsmen also looked dapper in black tuxes. “We loved how formal and coordinated they all looked. The photos were amazing,” Sophie says. The bridesmaids looked gorgeous in black fishtail dresses – Tia by Kirsty Doyle. The bride says, “Everyone commented on how stunning the dresses were. The girls looked like six models! They had several fittings with Kirsty who went above and beyond throughout the whole experience.” CELEBRATE IN STYLE The Liverpool String Quartet played during the ceremony, combining different pieces close to the couple’s hearts. Acoustic guitarist Michael Mullholland then performed at the reception, seamlessly transitioning celebrations from afternoon to evening. Later on Jonny Ross Music performed a DJ set and a saxophonist got guests on the dancefloor. MEMORABLE MOMENTS The bride remembers, “I couldn’t believe how calm I was on the day. It wasn’t until the doors of the ceremony hall swung open and I stood there with my dad watching my girls walk down the aisle that I started to feel a bit overwhelmed. Seeing Jordan for the first time brought tears to my eyes. He felt more nervous than he thought he would on the morning and he said he had butterflies all day, like we’d just met.” THE GETAWAY The newlyweds honeymooned in Maui, swimming with turtles, watching amazing sunsets, enjoying wonderful food and watching hula dancers. “It was paradise. The perfect end to our perfect wedding,” Sophie says.
