Your Cheshire & Merseyside Wedding - Sep/Oct 2019 (Issue 47)
WEDDED BLISS Liverpool has been crowned the happy marriage capital of the UK! A nationwide study of British couples has revealed that 48 per cent of married Liverpudlians say they have an extremely happy union, compared with the national average of 38 per cent. The study, commissioned by jewellers Beaverbrooks (beaverbrooks.co.uk ), to celebrate its 100-year anniversary, found that the loved-up couples of Liverpool also spent the most quality time together – 27 hours a week – which could explain the strength of their relationships. The research also revealed the top hints and tips from couples who’ve enjoyed more than ten years of wedded bliss. Top of the poll were knowing when to apologise and always being reliable, hotly pursued by never taking each other for granted, saying “I love you” regularly and always finding time for each other. A NEW RELAXATION EXPERIENCE Following a £10million investment The Spa at Carden is due to open, featuring state of the art treatment facilities. It’s the perfect pre-wedding retreat for the bridal party or an exclusive UK mini-moon destination that embraces the surrounding Cheshire countryside. We can’t wait to hear more about the outdoor spa experience, which we’ve been told will be the main attraction of visitors’ stay. For now though, we’ll be mooning over talk of the champagne beauty room, thermal facilities and beautiful spa garden. Keep your eyes on cardenpark.co.uk for further updates. TO THE RESCUE! Contractors working on Britain’s new high-speed railway recently saved a bride and groom in Cheshire from wedding day disaster. Days of heavy rain had flooded Oliver Daniels and Holly Johnson’s garden venue in Blakenhall, making access to their marquee virtually impossible. Fortunately, a Balfour Beatty team was working at a HS2 compound in the Cheshire village and happened to be expecting delivery of 50 new MaxiTrack panels. When approached by the mother-of-the-groom for help they were only too happy to loan their track matting to ensure the bridal party, suppliers and guests could get to the venue dry and mud-free. They even hand-laid the temporary walkway for the couple just hours before the nuptials. Andy Maddock, site agent for Balfour Beatty says, “Wedding planning is certainly different to the boreholes and trial pits we’re used to dealing with, but we had the materials and labour available and were glad to help.” 10
