REAL WEDDINGS 35 LOOKING THE PART The bride found her gown in Puure Bride, Lymm, before it was time to get planning the beauty look – Elle’s speciality! “All hail my glam squad of three make-up artists and two hairdressers,” she laughs. “They were amazing and I can’t thank them enough.” But what does a make-up artist opt for on her own special day? “I knew I wanted a timeless look so I kept a matte-velvet texture on my skin, neutral eyes with a pop of pigment all finished with smudged liner and fluffy lashes,” says Elle. “I had a nude lip with a slightly darker liner smudged in and highlighter was added for extra lift. In the evening, I went darker on the eyes for a more sultry effect.” Elle’s razor-sharp parting was a big commitment and involved cutting off any flyaway strands. “It was so stripped back off my face that I nearly didn’t go for it. I’m so glad my hairdresser and dear friend, Charlotte Medford Bridal, convinced me and topped it off with the most stunning crown.” The bridal party had a gorgeous low-key version of Elle’s make-up look, but each had their own hairstyle, from tousled twists to textured braids. CAUGHT ON CAMERA Elle and David wanted relaxed, unposed images to reflect the day. “We liked the idea of an editorial feel and didn’t want to spend time having staged shots,” she explains. “We’re delighted we booked Willow & Wilde. They made us feel totally relaxed and they were truly a part of our wedding, capturing candid pictures that transport us right back. We’re so pleased with our photos.” TIME TO CELEBRATE Acoustic performers played at the ceremony and sang the newlyweds down the aisle to Earth, Wind and Fire’s September – a fitting song for the day. Back at The Colony HQ, the partygoers indulged in delicious antipasto boards outside on the terrace, while the newlyweds opted to spend some time in the bar. “We wanted to take it all in together and it’s one of my favourite memories of the day,” Elle tells us. They then joined the congregation to tuck into delicious Italian-style cuisine. “The catering company, Top Table, was exceptional and we had the ultimate al fresco dining experience.” Peroni and prosecco flowed while the speeches took place. “Looking at the room filled with our favourite people was such a special moment,” Elle recalls. “After the first dance we had wood-fired pizzas and dough balls to die for.” The evening then got into full swing with the help of a DJ and saxophonist with the party winding up around 2am. “I asked our floral artist for sleek and sophisticated, soft not soppy, subtle yet detailed, modern but not futuristic and just enough wow to be totally and utterly beautiful – I thought I might’ve scared him off!”
