Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - February / March 2021 (Issue 81)
THE LONGHOUSE 01749 812 307 | www.longhouseweddings.co.uk WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? The Longhouse is a beautiful, environmentally friendly venue with large windows, French doors and a balcony to make the most of the views across the Brue Valley. The blank-canvas space offers simple white interiors with accents of soft sage green and wooden floors. Although the space is large, it retains a warm and welcoming ambience, with a log burner available for use in winter. Softly clad in silver larch and set high in the landscape, it gives the feeling of floating among the trees, looking out across the picturesque Somerset countryside and abundant gardens. LET’S CELEBRATE! There are three gorgeous places in which to tie the knot among up to 140 friends and family. The Gazebo is a handmade oak structure set in the gardens at the base of the venue’s vineyard. The Longhouse gives the feeling of bringing the outside in with its spectacular vistas. For a more intimate ceremony, The Wine Cellar is situated in the oldest part of the farmhouse and provides a deeply romantic feel with its stone walls and vaulted ceiling. When it comes to post-vow partying, couples can invite up to 200 people. The Wine Cellar and The Longhouse are lovely spots, along with the Patio. A covered setting with stunning views, it’s ideal for a drinks reception. WE LOVE… There’s on-site accommodation for up to 61 guests with a full English breakfast in the morning, and each booking includes exclusive use of the bridal suite. This family-run business prides itself on caring for its couples and the environment. ROMAN BATHS & PUMP ROOM 01225 477 786 | www.bathvenues.co.uk WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? Situated in the heart of Bath’s World Heritage Site, the Roman Baths & Pump Room is one of the most distinctive buildings in the country. The award-winning complex is steeped in history, with its origins dating back 2,000 years. Forming part of the museum by day, the Great Bath has been meticulously renovated while retaining its ancient character. It’s here at sunrise and sunset that vows can be exchanged, overlooked by the beautiful Bath Abbey. Ceremonies can still take place in adverse weather, as shelter is provided by the terrace above. LET’S CELEBRATE! Perfect for smaller celebrations, sunrise ceremonies can be followed by a champagne breakfast for up to 60 guests or 40 guests on a Saturday. Sunset vows (160 guests) are followed by a glass of champagne on the 2,000-year-old paving. In colder weather, the steam from the baths, coupled with flickering torchlight, creates a magical atmosphere. From mid-June to the end of August evening ceremonies are not available. The adjoining Grade I listed Pump Room (160 guests) is the ideal party space. Famously frequented by Jane Austen, the elegant room has tall windows, Corinthian columns and a glittering chandelier. Also part of the complex, the Terrace (80 guests) overlooking the Great Bath is an intimate area for events, along with the Reception Hall. Exclusive-use packages are available for up to 290 friends and family. Nearlyweds will be treated to a free menu tasting with the venue’s caterer, Searcys (www.searcys.co.uk). WE LOVE… New COVID-secure micro weddings are available, and couples booking a ceremony before April 2021 will receive a 15% discount on venue hire for a party at a later date. www.thur tlepower.com https://albe rtpalmerphotography.com www.amy sanders.co.uk www.ada mrumble.co.uk 24
