Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - June/July 2020 (Issue 77)
Finishing touches for every theme The style guide V enue styling is perhaps one of the most fun parts of wedding planning. But if you’ve fallen down a Pinterest rabbit hole, you’ll know it’s hard to make all of the incredible ideas you’ve seen a reality. We’ve asked some of the regions’ best stylists to hone in on three different themes and tell us how to create a full, cohesive look from them. Don’t forget – your wedding is all about you, so take these idea and add your own personal stamp! ECO-LUXE Sustainably embracing nature “Go paperless wherever possible, like substituting a card table plan for one written onto an upcycled mirror, or place names calligraphed onto leaves. Try scouring vintage markets and charity shops for decor and props and give them a new lease of life. Second-hand mirrors and candlesticks are great for finishing touches.” – Leanna Elizabeth, Leanna Elizabeth Weddings “Instead of cut flowers, try using potted plants, herbs and greenery for centrepieces and to dress any empty spaces. Eco-friendly props include cotton bunting, rice paper lanterns, beeswax candles, glassware and books. Rustic haybales are ideal for extra seating. Remember, hiring props means items are reused and there’s less waste from packaging.” – Alison Hieron, Creative Collections There are so many ways to create areas of interest by reusing and repurposing. Source a florist that uses locally grown flowers and makes foam-free arrangements. Think about incorporating natural products such as naturally fallen pinecones, leaves and berries. You could even collect your own petals for confetti – add in some lavender for a lovely fragrance.” – Chloe Kennedy, Kennedy Events & Weddings www.elizabethweddings.co.uk | https://andrewbrannanphotography.co.uk www.hunter-gatherings.com | paulathertonphotography.co.uk www.leannaelizabethweddings.com | www.brianphotographe.com www.leannaelizabethweddings.com | www.brianphotographe.com “We love using natural materials and props such as log slices, wooden tea light holders and hessian table runners. For an extra-special touch, why not make place setting holders from pinecones placed on mini log slices? It’s also good to recycle items for this theme; jam jars, gin bottles or even tin cans look great when filled with flowers.” – Elizabeth Wong, Elizabeth Weddings “The wedding industry is becoming more eco-conscious so its a great time to explore what nature has to offer. Consider using dried blooms, which can be kept as a keepsake. Try to reduce the amount of items that will be thrown away; combine place settings and favours by using a natural object like a stone, shell, agate slice or a personalised cotton napkin. When it comes to colours, embrace the tones of the season.” – Fran Baxter-Hunter, Hunter Gatherings https://elizabethweddings.co.uk www.leannaelizabethweddings.com | www.brianphotographe.com www.hunter-gatherings.com 47 VENUE STYLING
