Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - Dec/Jan 2019 (Issue 74)

All the latest from around the regions NEWS BE OUR GUEST Bristol’s Celebration Roadshow has introduced an exciting new concept from across the pond to UK weddings. Its wedding host service is perfect for couples that want to relax and enjoy their day knowing that a highly trained professional is in control. “A wedding host will intimately know the proceedings of your big day,” says owner Phill Makepeace. “They understand that couples are looking for a stress-free day, so have the skills and knowledge needed to solve any hiccups that may happen without anyone even knowing about it.” Imagine your wedding is a film and the host is the director. They will guide your guests through each chapter of the day making sure everything happens when it’s supposed to and everyone knows what they should be doing. From experience, they can also suggest fun activities to get everyone in the party spirit and they’ll have a vast knowledge of music to provide the perfect soundtrack. “A good wedding host will also have microphone and toastmaster training,” Phill explains. “They will know what to say and how to say it.” To find out more, visit celebrationroadshow.co.uk albertpalmerphotography.com martindabek.com THE GREAT OUTDOORS The Grade I listed Crowcombe Court near Taunton has announced that it’ll soon be offering licensed outdoor weddings under a stunning bandstand. As well as being able to say “I do” al fresco, the venue is also furnishing its grounds with pretty outdoor furniture, a love swing, giant birdcage and an archway for the perfect photographic backdrops. Couples getting married at the venue have exclusive use of the house and grounds, which feature a lake, delightful hydrangea beds and a croquet lawn, with the added benefit of the luxurious Honeymoon Suite and plenty of guest accommodation. Owner Hannah Dean is all about upping the elegance and creating a space for women who want to celebrate their friendships. “We curate each experience and carefully design it to suit the individual’s requirements,” Hannah tells us. “Working with the best of Bristol talent, we take care of everything.” After running her Hen House accommodation for a number of years, Hannah saw a need for hen dos with a difference, so she approached the city’s most inspiring creatives to forge strong partnerships and to develop packages with a focus on friendship and personalisation for discerning brides. The handcrafted experiences take hens on a journey of expert-led sketching and painting or practicing downward- facing dog on a paddleboards as the sun sets. Foodies might like to pair an Indian cookery course with an exploration of weird and wonderful wines in a tasting session with a difference. Each activity puts a healthy, wholesome spin on celebrations. Find out more at henqueens.co.uk Nearlywed YOUR ESSENTIALS 9
