The happy couple can enjoy a choice of historic venues within 50 acres of lovingly restored gardens, featuring lakes, light-dappled pathways and stunning views of the Blackdown Hills. LET’S CELEBRATE! The Orangery is a beautiful hamstone building, designed by British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens. Licensed for ceremonies, it offers a picture-perfect setting for all styles of wedding and allows brides and grooms to enjoy a light-filled area before spilling out to enjoy drinks on the lawn. The Bampfylde Hall dates back to 1680. High ceilings and dramatic timber beams make it a fantastic place for a couple to enjoy their ceremony, wedding breakfast and party. The fairy-lit canopy emphasises its charm. For something a little different, the gardens can offer an open-air wedding in the 18 th -century temple, which is perched high above the Pear Pond in the Landscape Gardens. It provides a romantic hideaway for up to 90 attendees to enjoy vistas across to Taunton Vale. Smaller weddings can be accommodated within the rooms of Hestercombe House. Hidden within ancient ramparts and protected by a moat, 14 acres of tranquil, Grade II listed gardens await visitors. With herbaceous borders, pretty pools and the scent of roses in the air, there are endless photo opportunities against the backdrop of the cathedral. In 2016, the gardens were awarded RHS Partner Garden status. The palace dates back to the 13 th century, and the romantic ruins of The Great Hall complement the majesty of the medieval façade and awe-inspiring setting of the gatehouse and moat. The Bishop’s Private Chapel is renowned for its impressive stone tracery and high stained-glass windows. LET’S CELEBRATE! The adjacent town hall is available for the official “I dos.” Parties then head to the venue to celebrate in a choice of spaces, including the medieval Entrance Hall, the vaulted stone Undercroft, the Terrace and the Long Gallery. Guests can also explore the grounds, which are home to the well pools that give the city its name. On the moat are the famous swans, who ring a bell when they want food! Couples tying the knot here receive a free food tasting and complimentary membership for a year.
